Can You Be a Real Estate Agent with A Full Time Job?
It’s no secret that real estate is a lucrative industry, but it’s also one of the most demanding.
Many people think that in order to be a successful real estate agent, you have to quit your day job and become a full-time agent.
You can be a successful real estate agent with a full-time job. You need the right Guidance. In this post, I will discuss how you can be a real estate agent with a full-time job.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Juggling two careers
Advantages:
1. According to RealestateExpress.com, the Average income of part-time realtor is $1000 per week. The most obvious advantage is that you’ll have a constant income from your day job. This will allow you to save and make a larger down payment on your first investment property. It can also help with your monthly mortgage payments and other associated costs of being a real estate agent.
2. Another advantage is that you can craft your schedule. You will have more control over your time since you’re not tied down to a traditional 9-5 job. This allows you to show clients houses when it’s convenient for them rather than trying to work around your day job schedule.
3. Juggling two careers can also make you more disciplined. You’ll have to learn to manage your time wisely and be very organized to succeed at both jobs. This can be a valuable skill for a real estate agent, where time management is key.
Disadvantages:
1) The biggest disadvantage of juggling two careers is that it can take a lot of work to find the time to focus on your real estate business. If you’re only working part-time as an agent, you’ll likely have to work evenings and weekends to show properties and open houses. This cannot be easy to do if you have a full-time job during the week.
2) Another disadvantage is that it can be tough to find brokerage firms willing to work with part-time agents. Many brokerages will work with part-time realtors, but not all of them can work on your scheduled time for real estate work.
3) You might get disappointed as part time real estate agent as you will not get the results you hope for. Getting your business off the ground may take longer, and you might have to work harder to find clients.
Can You Be a Real Estate Agent with A Full Time Job? and How to Make It Happen?
Before I dive into the tips, I want to answer a common question –
Can you be a real estate agent with a full-time job? The answer is YES! You can be a real estate agent and have a full-time job.
I am proof of that because I worked full-time as a dental hygienist when I got my real estate license. I didn’t quit my job to become a real estate agent.
I did, however, have to make some adjustments to my work schedule and life in general, but it was doable, and I’m so glad I did it!
If you are thinking about becoming a real estate agent but are worried about how you will juggle a full-time job and everything else that goes along with being an agent, this post is for you!
Real estate can be a very demanding career, but it is also very rewarding. It’s important to remember that you can continue your job to be a successful real estate agent.
You can do it! I am living proof. And in this post, I’m going to share some of the things I did to make it work.
Finding Time for Part-Time Real Estate
It can be tough, but it is possible to do it if you are strategic about your time and have a good support system.
Here are some of the things that I did to make it work:
Finding a Broker Who Is Interested in Working with Part-Time Realtor
When I first got my real estate license, I worked as a dental hygienist full-time.
I wanted to continue my job because I loved it, and it was great money, so I went to a few different brokerages before finding one willing to work with me part-time.
If you are in a similar situation, keep going if the first few brokerages you approach turn you down.
Keep looking until you find one that is willing to work with you. It might take some time, but it will be worth it.
Scheduling Showings
One of the most challenging things about being a real estate agent with a full-time job is trying to schedule showings and appointments around your work schedule.
This can be tough, but it is possible. I would often have to leave work early for showings or appointments and then make up the time later in the evening or on the weekends.
It wasn’t always easy, but it was doable. And, in the end, it was worth it.
If you are serious about being a real estate agent but are worried about how you will fit everything into your busy schedule, here are some tips that may help you:
- Talk to your boss about your goals and see if there is any flexibility in your work schedule.
- If you can’t get flexible hours at work, try to block out specific days or times that you will be available for showings and appointments.
You can try these tips, but ultimately, you must be flexible and willing to make sacrifices. It can be challenging, but it is possible to be a real estate agent with a full-time job.
If you are dedicated and willing to do the work, you can make it happen!’
Stay Organized and Stay on Top of Your Work
This is the most important thing you can do to succeed as a real estate agent with a full-time job.
You have to be organized and stay on top of your work. There are many moving parts in real estate; if you’re not careful, things can start to slip through the cracks.
One way to stay organized is to use a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system. This software helps you keep track of your clients, leads, appointments, etc.
I use and recommend Wiseagent for my CRM. It’s an all-in-one system that helps me stay organized and on top of my work.
There are a few more CRM Systems you can use:
- kvCore
- BoomTown
- Commision Inc
These will help you to organize your work.
Another way to stay organized is to keep a detailed calendar. I use Google Calendar for all of my appointments and deadlines.
I also maintain a daily to-do list, which I use to keep track of what needs to be done on any given day. This allows me to stick to my goals and stay on track.
Alternatives you can try, are Showingtime and Calendly
Don’t Forget to Market Yourself
Just because you have a full-time job doesn’t mean you can forget about marketing yourself. It would be best if you still found time to market your business.
Fortunately, there are many ways to do this that don’t take a lot of time or money.
One way to market your business is to use social media. This is a great way to connect with potential clients and referral sources.
I use Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to market my business. I also have a blog where I write about real estate topics that my clients and referral sources are interested in.
Another great way to market your business is to get involved in your community. This is a great way to meet potential clients and referral sources.
You can volunteer for local organizations, join local networking groups, or attend local events.
Use Technology to Your Advantage.
There are a lot of great technology tools out there that can help you save time and be more productive.
Video Marketing Tools (Bombbomb, Wevideo, and Animoto)
These video marketing tools will defiantly help you to save time and money. You can create videos for your listings, open houses, or even blog posts.
Paperless Technology (DocuSign, Digisigner, Authetisign)
This will help you to go paperless. You can get documents signed electronically, saving you a lot of time.
Transaction Management (zip Tms, Transactiondesk, Form Simplicity)
Transaction management software can help you keep track of all the details of a real estate transaction. This can be a big help when juggling a full-time job and a real estate business.
Software for Email Campaigns (Mailchimp and Send Grid)
Email marketing is a great way to stay in touch with your clients and referral sources. These software programs make it easy to create and send email campaigns.
Get Help from Others.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. This is especially important if you have a family or other commitments outside of work.
There are a lot of great resources out there that can help you with your real estate business. You can hire a virtual assistant, sign up for a real estate coaching program, or even ask a friend or family member for help.
Be Patient, and Don’t Give Up.
Real estate is a great business, but it takes time to build up a successful business, especially if you are doing another full-time job. Make sure you’re patient, and don’t give up; you will be successful.
Celebrate Your Successes!
Even if your business is small, it’s important to celebrate your successes. This will help you stay motivated and focused on your goals.
Bottom Line
It is possible if you are working full-time and want to become a real estate agent. Just remember to:
